A child can memorise surahs and still be unkind. Akhlaq is the other half of the deen: how we speak, how we treat our parents, how we handle anger and how we care for animals. Each lesson ends with one action to try before the next one.

Always tell the truth
Truthfulness takes you to good, and good takes you to Paradise. Lying does the opposite — even the small lies that feel harmless.
1Truth leads to good
One honest answer keeps you out of ten problems later.
2No 'small' lies
Joking lies, exam lies and 'I already did it' lies all count.
3Own up fast
Admitting a mistake straight away is braver — and easier — than covering it.
4Keep promises
Saying you will do something is a kind of truth. Do it or don't say it.
5Be honest with Allah
Duas are more sincere when you stop pretending, even to yourself.

And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers.”
“Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 6018

Patience and gratitude
A believer has two settings: when things are hard, sabr; when things are good, shukr. Both of them turn ordinary days into reward.
1Sabr is active
Patience is not doing nothing — it is holding on, keeping going, and not complaining about Allah.
2Allah is with the patient
The Qur'an tells us to seek help through patience and prayer.
3Shukr increases
Allah promises to give more to those who are thankful.
4Count what you have
Health, family, food, safety — say alhamdulillah for one of them by name every day.
5When you're angry
Sit down, be quiet, make wudhu — the Prophet ﷺ taught these steps.
Wa iz ta azzana Rabbukum la'in shakartum la azeedannakum wa la'in kafartum inn'azaabee lashadeed
“And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.' "”
Qul lilmu' mineena yaghuuddoo min absaarihim wa yahfazoo furoojahum; zaalika azkaa lahum; innallaaha khabeerum bimaa yasna'oon
“Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do.”
Wa qul lilmu'minaati yaghdudna min absaarihinna wa yahfazna furoojahunna wa laa yubdeena zeenatahunna illaa maa zahara minhaa walyadribna bikhumurihinna 'alaa juyoobihinna wa laa yubdeena zeenatahunna illaa libu'oolatihinna aw aabaaa'i hinna aw aabaaa'i bu'oolati hinna aw abnaaa'ihinaa aw abnaaa'i bu'oolatihinnna aw ikhwaanihinnna aw baneee ikhwaanihinna aw banee akhawaatihinna aw nisaaa'i hinna aw maa malakat aimaanuhunna awit taabi'eena ghairi ilil irbati minar rijaali awit tiflillazeena lam yazharoo 'alaa 'awraatin nisaaa'i wala yadribnna bi arjulihinna min zeenatihinn; wa toobooo ilallaahi jammee'an aiyuhal mu'minoona la'allakum tuflihoon
“And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.”
“Cleanliness is half of faith.”
Sahih Muslim 223
“Faith consists of more than sixty branches, and haya (modesty) is a branch of faith.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 9

Neighbours and orphans
Islam measures your character by how you treat the people closest to you and the people with least: your neighbour, and the orphan.
1Jibril kept mentioning neighbours
The Prophet ﷺ said Jibril advised him about neighbours so much that he thought they would inherit.
2A neighbour is anyone nearby
Muslim or not, next door or next desk — they have a right on you.
3Looking after an orphan
The Prophet ﷺ said he and the one who cares for an orphan will be close together in Paradise, holding up two fingers.
4The Qur'an lists them together
Worship Allah, and be good to parents, relatives, orphans, the needy and the neighbour.
5Never push down the weak
The Qur'an tells the Prophet ﷺ directly not to oppress the orphan.
Wa'budul laaha wa laa tushrikoo bihee shai'anw wa bilwaalidaini ihsaananw wa bizil qurbaa walyataamaa walmasaakeeni waljaari zilqurbaa waljaaril junubi wassaahibi biljambi wabnis sabeeli wa maa malakat aimaanukum; innal laaha laa yuhibbu man kaana mukhtaalan fakhooraa
“Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful.”
Surah Ad-Dhuhaa · 93:9
فَأَمَّا ٱلْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ
Fa am mal yateema fala taqhar
“So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him].”
“Jibril continued to recommend me about treating neighbours kindly so much so that I thought he would order me to make them my heirs.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 6014
“I and the one who looks after an orphan will be like this in Paradise — showing his middle and index fingers.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 5304

Anger and forgiveness
Real strength is not winning a fight — it is holding yourself back when you are angry, and forgiving afterwards.
1The strong person
The Prophet ﷺ said the strong one is not the one who overcomes people, but the one who controls himself when angry.
2Cool down first
Stop talking, sit down, drink water, make wudhu — then decide what to say.
3Forgive on purpose
The Qur'an praises those who restrain anger and pardon people.
4Say sorry properly
Name what you did, do not add excuses, and change the behaviour.
5Do not carry it
Holding a grudge hurts you more than the person you are angry with.
“Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good;”
“The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one who controls himself while in anger.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 6114
