Amanah means a trust — anything placed in your hands that you are answerable for. For a child that includes a borrowed pencil, a promise to a sibling, a secret a friend shared, and the hours of a day. These lessons take six hadith on exactly that: the signs of a hypocrite, the hadith that everyone is a guardian, the honour of earning with your own hands, the hadith that what a person tells you is a trust, the promise for whoever screens a Muslim, and the warning about health and free time. Each is anchored to its collection and number and to ayah references.
Lesson 1 · Wa'd · ages 8-11
Keeping your promises
Breaking promises and betraying a trust are listed as the signs of a hypocrite — not small faults.
1The three signs
The Prophet ﷺ said the signs of a hypocrite are three: he lies, he breaks his promises, and when trusted he proves dishonest.
2Fulfil your agreements
Allah opens Surah Al-Ma'idah by telling the believers to fulfil their contracts.
3Promises will be asked about
Allah says to fulfil the covenant, because the covenant will be asked about.
4Do not say what you won't do
Allah calls it hateful to Him that you say something and then do not do it.
5Say In sha' Allah honestly
It means 'if Allah wills' — not 'probably not'; use it when you truly intend to do the thing.
Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo awfoo bil'uqood; uhillat lakum baheematul an'aami illaa maa yutlaa 'alaikum ghaira muhillis saidi wa antum hurum; innal laaha yahkumu maa yureed
“O you who have believed, fulfill [all] contracts. Lawful for you are the animals of grazing livestock except for that which is recited to you [in this Qur'an] - hunting not being permitted while you are in the state of ihram. Indeed, Allah ordains what He intends.”
Wa laa taqraboo maalal yateemi illaa billatee hiya ahsanu hattaa yablugha ashuddah; wa awfoo bil'ahd, innal 'ahda kaana mas'oolaa
“And do not approach the property of an orphan, except in the way that is best, until he reaches maturity. And fulfill [every] commitment. Indeed, the commitment is ever [that about which one will be] questioned.”
Kabura maqtan 'indal laahi an taqooloo maa laa taf'aloon
“Great is hatred in the sight of Allah that you say what you do not do.”
“The signs of a hypocrite are three: whenever he speaks, he tells a lie; whenever he promises, he always breaks it; if you trust him, he proves to be dishonest.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 33

Lesson 2 · Mas'uliyyah · ages 12-15
Everyone is a guardian
Nobody is too young to be responsible for something. The Prophet ﷺ said every one of us is a guardian.
1The hadith
The Prophet ﷺ said every one of you is a guardian and is responsible for his charges — and named the ruler, the man in his household, the woman in her home, and the servant over property.
2Your charges as a child
A younger sibling, a pet, your own room, your homework — all of these are what you are guardian over.
3Protect your family
Allah tells the believers to guard themselves and their families.
4Return trusts to their owners
Allah commands that trusts be given back to those they belong to.
5You will be asked
The hadith ends by repeating it: every one of you is a guardian and responsible for his charges.
Yaaa ayyuhal lazeena samanoo qooo anfusakum wa ahleekum naaranw waqoodu han naasu wal hijaaratu 'alaihaa malaaa'ikatun ghilaazun shidaadul laa ya'soonal laaha maa amarahum wa yaf'aloona maa yu'maroon
“O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded.”
Innal laaha yaamurukum an tu'addul amaanaati ilaaa ahlihaa wa izaa hakamtum bainan naasi an tahkumoo bil 'adl; innal laaha yaamurukum an tu'addul amaanaati ilaaa ahlihaa wa izaa hakamtum bainan naasi an tahkumoo bil 'adl; innal laaha ni'immaa ya'izukum bih; innal laaha kaana Samee'am Baseera
“Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice. Excellent is that which Allah instructs you. Indeed, Allah is ever Hearing and Seeing.”
“Surely! Everyone of you is a guardian and is responsible for his charges: The Imam (ruler) of the people is a guardian and is responsible for his subjects; a man is the guardian of his family (household) and is responsible for his subjects...”
Sahih al-Bukhari 7138

Lesson 3 · Halal earning · ages 12-15
Earning with your own hands
There is honour in work. The Prophet ﷺ said no meal is better than the one earned by your own hands.
1The hadith
The Prophet ﷺ said nobody has ever eaten a better meal than that which one has earned by working with one's own hands, and that Dawud ate from his own labour.
2Prophets worked
Prophets were shepherds, carpenters and traders — work is not beneath a religious person.
3Do not take wrongly
Allah forbids consuming each other's property unjustly.
4Work and worship together
After Jumu'ah, Allah tells the believers to disperse and seek from His bounty.
5Honest trade only
Allah forbids taking wealth by falsehood and tells us to trade by mutual consent.
Wa laa taakuloo amwaalakum bainakum bilbaatili wa tudloo bihaaa ilal hukkaami litaakuloo fareeqam min amwaalin naasi bil ismi wa antum ta'lamoon
“And do not consume one another's wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the rulers in order that [they might aid] you [to] consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful].”
“O you who have believed, do not consume one another's wealth unjustly but only [in lawful] business by mutual consent. And do not kill yourselves [or one another]. Indeed, Allah is to you ever Merciful.”
“Nobody has ever eaten a better meal than that which one has earned by working with one's own hands. The Prophet of Allah, David used to eat from the earnings of his manual labor.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 2072

Do one useful job properly and think about the difference between earning something and being given it.
Lesson 4 · Keeping confidences · ages 8-11
A secret is a trust
When someone tells you something privately, that conversation itself becomes something you are holding for them.
1The hadith
The Prophet ﷺ said: when a man tells something and then departs, it is a trust.
2Passing it on breaks it
Repeating it 'to just one person' is exactly how the trust is broken.
3Two exceptions
If someone is being harmed or is in danger, you must tell a trusted adult — protecting a person comes first.
4Betrayal is named
Allah tells the believers not to betray Allah, the Messenger, or the trusts placed with them.
5Trusts go back
Allah commands that trusts be returned to their owners.
“When a man tells something and then departs, it is a trust.”
Sunan Abi Dawud 4868
Do this before next time
Think of a secret you were told and check you have not repeated it — and tell an adult if someone is being hurt.
Lesson 5 · Screening a Muslim · ages 12-15
Covering someone's mistake
Helping someone out of trouble quietly, instead of announcing it, earns the same treatment from Allah.
1The hadith
The Prophet ﷺ said whoever fulfils the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfil his needs, and whoever screens a Muslim, Allah will screen him on the Day of Resurrection.
2Do not hand people over
The same hadith says a Muslim should not oppress his brother nor hand him over to an oppressor.
3Not covering up harm
Screening a mistake is not hiding bullying or abuse — those must be reported to a trusted adult.
4Help each other in good
Allah tells us to cooperate in righteousness and not in sin.
5Do not spread it
Allah warns those who love that shameful things about believers should be spread around.
Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo laa tuhilloo sha'aaa 'iral laahi wa lash Shahral Haraama wa lal hadya wa lal qalaaa'ida wa laa aaammeenal Baital Haraama yabtaghoona fadlam mir Rabbihim wa ridwaanaa; wa izaa halaltum fastaadoo; wa laa yajrimannakum shana aanu qawmin an saddookum 'anil Masjidil-Haraami an ta'tadoo; wa ta'aawanoo 'alalbirri wattaqwaa; wa laa ta'aawanoo 'alal ismi wal'udwaan; wattaqul laah; innal laaha shadeedul 'iqaab
“O you who have believed, do not violate the rites of Allah or [the sanctity of] the sacred month or [neglect the marking of] the sacrificial animals and garlanding [them] or [violate the safety of] those coming to the Sacred House seeking bounty from their Lord and [His] approval. But when you come out of ihram, then [you may] hunt. And do not let the hatred of a people for having obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Haram lead you to transgress. And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.”
“Indeed, those who like that immorality should be spread [or publicized] among those who have believed will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah knows and you do not know.”
“A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, so he should not oppress him... whoever brought his brother out of a discomfort, Allah will bring him out of the discomforts of the Day of Resurrection, and whoever screened a Muslim, Allah will screen him.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 2442

Lesson 6 · Two blessings · ages 8-11
Time and health are trusts
Two gifts get wasted more than any others, because they feel free: your health and your spare time.
1The hadith
The Prophet ﷺ said there are two blessings which many people lose: health and free time.
2Allah swears by time
Surah Al-'Asr opens with an oath by time, then says mankind is in loss — except those who believe and do good.
3Use energy while you have it
Being able to run, pray and memorise easily is a season, not a permanent state.
4You will be asked
Allah says: did you think We created you without purpose?
5Plan a little
Deciding your salah times, reading and play in advance is how free time stops disappearing.
Afahsibtum annamaa khalaqnaakum 'abasanw wa annakum ilainaa laa turja'oon
“Then did you think that We created you uselessly and that to Us you would not be returned?"”
“There are two blessings which many people lose: (they are) health and free time for doing good.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 6412
