The safest duas a child can learn are the ones Allah Himself wrote into the Qur'an. Each one was said by a prophet at a real moment — after a mistake, in the middle of danger, when there was no food, when the way ahead was frightening — and Allah kept the exact words so that we could use them too. In every lesson the ayah is shown in full from the verified Tanzil Uthmani text with its translation, so nothing is paraphrased or invented. Children learn what the dua means, when the prophet said it, and one situation in their own week where the same words fit.
Lesson 1 · Adam (AS) · ages 5-7
Adam's dua after a mistake
When Adam slipped, he did not hide from Allah — he said words Allah taught him, and Allah turned to him in forgiveness.
1Allah taught him the words
The Qur'an says Adam received words from his Lord, and Allah accepted his repentance.
2The dua itself
'Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.'
3Owning the mistake
The dua begins by admitting the wrong, not by explaining it away.
4Everyone slips
The first human being made a mistake — the lesson is what you do next, not that you never slip.
5Use it tonight
This is a perfect dua for the end of a day when something went wrong.
Wa iz yarfa'u Ibraaheemul qawaa'ida minal Baitiwa Ismaa'eelu Rabbanaa taqabbal minnaa innaka Antas Samee'ul Aleem
“And [mention] when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House and [with him] Ishmael, [saying], "Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing.”
Wa iz qaala Ibraaheemu Rabbij 'al haazaa baladan aaminanw warzuq ahlahoo minas samaraati man aamana minhum billaahi wal yawmil aakhiri qaala wa man kafara faumatti'uhoo qaleelan summa adtarruhooo ilaa 'azaabin Naari wa bi'salmaseer
“And [mention] when Abraham said, "My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits - whoever of them believes in Allah and the Last Day." [Allah] said. "And whoever disbelieves - I will grant him enjoyment for a little; then I will force him to the punishment of the Fire, and wretched is the destination."”
Fasaqaa lahumaa summa tawallaaa ilaz zilli faqaala Rabbi innee limaaa anzalta ilaiya min khairin faqeer
“So he watered [their flocks] for them; then he went back to the shade and said, "My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need."”
Do this before next time
Memorise 'Rabbi ishrah lee sadree' and use it before the next thing that makes you nervous.
Lesson 5 · Yunus (AS) · ages 8-11
Yunus's dua in the dark
In the darkness of the sea, Yunus (AS) called out that there is no god but Allah, praising Him and admitting his own wrong — and Allah saved him.
1The dua
'There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.'
2Three parts
Tawhid, then praise of Allah, then admitting his own mistake — a pattern for every dua.
3Allah answered
The Qur'an says: 'So We responded to him and saved him from the distress.'
4Never too dark
No situation is too far gone for dua; he called from inside the sea, in the dark.
5It is for us too
The same ayah says that is how Allah saves the believers who call on Him.
Wa Zan Nooni iz zahaba mughaadiban fazaanna al lan naqdira 'alaihi fanaanna al lan naqdira 'alaihi fanaadaa fiz zulumaati al laaa ilaaha illaaa Anta Subhaanaka innee kuntu minaz zaalimeen
“And [mention] the man of the fish, when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."”
Fata'aalal laahul Malikul Haqq; wa laa ta'jal bil Quraani min qabli ai yuqdaaa ilaika wahyuhoo wa qur Rabbi zidnee 'ilmaa
“So high [above all] is Allah, the Sovereign, the Truth. And, [O Muhammad], do not hasten with [recitation of] the Qur'an before its revelation is completed to you, and say, "My Lord, increase me in knowledge."”
Wa minhum mai yaqoolu rabbanaaa aatina fid dunyaa hasanatawn wa fil aakhirati hasanatanw wa qinaa azaaban Naar
“But among them is he who says, "Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."”
Wa qur Rabbi adkhilnee mudkhala sidqinw wa akhrijnee mukhraja sidqinw waj'al lee milladunka sultaanan naseeraa
“And say, "My Lord, cause me to enter a sound entrance and to exit a sound exit and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority."”
“The most frequent invocation of the Prophet (ﷺ) was: 'O Allah! Give to us in the world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire.'”
