Time is the one gift every child is given exactly the same amount of each day, and the one gift that cannot be topped up. The Prophet ﷺ named health and free time as the two blessings people are most deceived about, asked Allah for barakah in the early morning, and warned that we will be questioned about our youth. These five lessons turn that into habits a 5-15 year old can actually keep: a morning that starts well, small daily amounts of Qur'an and dhikr, and an honest look at where the hours go. Every point carries its ayah or hadith reference.
Lesson 1 · Ni'mah · ages 8-11
The two blessings people waste
The Prophet ﷺ said there are two blessings many people are deceived about: health and free time — the two things children have the most of.
1The hadith
The Prophet ﷺ said: there are two blessings which many people lose — health and free time for doing good.
2Why children especially
Childhood is the season with the most health and the most free hours, so it is where the most can be gained or lost.
3'Deceived' means it feels free
Time feels endless until it is gone; that feeling is the deception the hadith warns about.
4Free time is not the enemy
Rest and play are allowed and needed; wasting every spare hour is what the hadith warns about.
5Notice where it goes
Most wasted time is not chosen — it leaks away in small unnoticed pieces.
“Establish prayer at the decline of the sun [from its meridian] until the darkness of the night and [also] the Qur'an of dawn. Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed.”
“O Allah, bless my nation in their early mornings.”
Sunan Abi Dawud 2606
Memorise this
Allahumma barik li ummati fi bukuriha
O Allah, bless my ummah in their early mornings.
Sunan Abi Dawud 2606

Lesson 3 · Hisab · ages 12-15
What we will be asked about
No one will move from their place on the Day of Judgement until they are asked about their life, their youth, their wealth and their knowledge.
1The hadith
The Prophet ﷺ said the feet of a servant will not move until he is asked about his life and how he spent it, his youth and how he used it, his wealth — where he earned it and where he spent it — and whether he acted on what he learned.
2Youth has its own question
Being young is not an excuse; it is a separate question with its own answer.
3Knowledge is on the list
We are asked not only what we learned but whether we acted on it — which is why every lesson here ends with an activity.
4Wealth twice over
Where money came from and where it went are both asked, even pocket money habits.
5Answering starts now
You are writing your answer to these questions today, not on that Day.
Wa nada'ul mawaazeenal qista li Yawmil Qiyaamati falaa tuzlamu nafsun shai'aa; wa in kaana misqaala habbatim min khardalin atainaa bihaa; wa kafaa binaa haasibeen
“And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.”
Surah Az-Zalzala · 99:7
Famaiy ya'mal mithqala zarratin khai raiy-yarah
“So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it,”
Surah Az-Zalzala · 99:8
Wa maiy-y'amal mithqala zarratin sharraiy-yarah
“And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.”
“The son of Adam will not be able to move from his place on the Day of Resurrection until he is asked about four things: his life and how he lived it, his knowledge and what he did with it, his wealth and where he earned it and how he spent it, and his body and how he used it.”

Lesson 4 · Istiqamah · ages 5-7
Little and often beats big and rare
The deeds most loved by Allah are the ones done constantly, even if they are small — five minutes every day beats an hour once a month.
1The hadith
The Prophet ﷺ said the deeds most loved by Allah are those done regularly, even if they are small.
2'A'ishah's description
She described his own worship as constant and steady rather than in bursts.
3Choose an amount you can keep
One page, three ayahs, ten salawat — small enough that a tired day still fits it.
4Do not stop after a miss
Missing one day is a gap; quitting turns a gap into an end.
5Same time, same place
Habits stick to a slot — after Maghrib, at the same desk, before the same routine.
Fastaqim kamaaa umirta wa man taaba ma'aka wa laa tatghaw; innahoo bimaa ta'maloona Baseer
“So remain on a right course as you have been commanded, [you] and those who have turned back with you [to Allah], and do not transgress. Indeed, He is Seeing of what you do.”
Surah Ash-Sharh · 94:7
Fa iza faragh ta fansab
“So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].”
“The most beloved of deeds to Allah are those that are most consistent, even if it is small.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 6464

Lesson 5 · Dunya · ages 12-15
Live like a traveller
Ibn 'Umar reported the Prophet ﷺ telling him to be in this world like a traveller, and to use his health and his time before they run out.
1The image he gave
The Prophet ﷺ told Ibn 'Umar to be in this world like a stranger or a traveller passing through.
2Ibn 'Umar's advice with it
He added: take from your health for your illness, and from your life for your death.
3A traveller packs light
Travellers do not fill their bags with things they will leave behind at the next stop.
4Not gloomy — clear
Remembering the journey makes today's hours matter more, not less.
5What travels with you
Salah, Qur'an, good character and sadaqah are the luggage that arrives with you.
“Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children - like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion.”
Surah Al-A'laa · 87:16
Bal tu'siroonal hayaatad dunyaa
“But you prefer the worldly life,”
Surah Al-A'laa · 87:17
Wal Aakhiratu khairunw wa abqaa
“While the Hereafter is better and more enduring.”
“Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveller.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 6416
